About
Yuji Hentaigana Akebono revives the stylistic alternate forms of Hiragana known as hentaigana, which were largely abandoned after a 1900 script reform. It is part of the Yuji series, based on the handwriting of calligrapher Yuji Kataoka. This font includes Japanese hentaigana and Latin uppercase and small caps, but excludes Katakana due to lack of hentaigana forms.
Overview
Yuji Hentaigana Akebono is a single-weight handwriting font that digitizes the historical hentaigana script, offering stylistic alternate versions of standard Hiragana characters. It does not include Katakana characters, as hentaigana forms for Katakana do not exist. The Latin alphabet is presented in all-caps and small caps, complementing the Japanese script. This font is suitable for projects requiring a traditional Japanese calligraphic style with a unique historical touch.
