Secular One is a single-weight Hebrew and Latin sans serif font created to be fresh and approachable without being overly styled. It balances simplicity with subtle eccentricities, making it highly readable in small sizes and effective for branding at large sizes. The design supports long paragraphs and diverse typographic needs.
Overview
Secular One is an original Hebrew and Latin humanistic sans serif typeface with a single weight. At the time of publication, there were few Hebrew sans serif text typefaces. The designer aimed to create a fresh, easy-going design that is simple but not neutral, friendly but not flattering or over-styled, and straight but not too much. The letterforms work well at both small sizes for readability and large sizes where delicate and eccentric elements appear, making it suitable for branding and long-form text. A 2023 update expanded the glyph set and made small fixes. The project is led by Michal Sahar, a type designer based in Tel Aviv, Israel.
