Pragati Narrow

About

Pragati Narrow is a libre Devanagari and Latin sans-serif typeface family featuring vertical and horizontal cuts, available in Regular and Bold weights. It was developed for clear screen readability and webfont use, with the Latin styles inspired by late nineteenth-century American typefaces and derived from Chivo. The family includes narrow styles and is a product of the Omnibus-Type foundry.

Overview

Pragati Narrow is a sans-serif typeface family designed as a complement to Archivo Narrow. It features vertical and horizontal cuts and comes in two weights: Regular and Bold. The Devanagari script was crafted by Marcela Romero, Pablo Cosgaya, and Nicolás Silva, while the Latin version draws inspiration from nineteenth-century American typefaces and is derived from Chivo, designed by Héctor Gatti. Developed primarily for screen and web use, Pragati Narrow offers a narrow style suited for contemporary digital typography. Pragati means 'progress' in Hindi, reflecting the typeface's modern and forward-looking design ethos.
