Ponomar

About

Ponomar faithfully reproduces the typeface from editions published by the Synodal Press of the Russian Orthodox Church in the early 1900s. It supports Cyrillic, extended Cyrillic, and Latin scripts, including characters for Romanian Cyrillic, Aleut, and Sakha (Yakut) liturgical texts. This single-weight, normal-style display font is suited for liturgical and culturally specific typographic needs.

Overview

Ponomar is a display typeface that revives the historic Church Slavonic style used in early 20th-century Russian Orthodox liturgical publications. It includes the necessary characters for several Cyrillic-based liturgical languages, making it a specialized font for religious and cultural texts. The font is available in one regular weight and style, designed by Aleksandr Andreev.
