This variable serif font family revives the 1928 Antykwa Półtawskiego typeface with careful historical research and digitization. It balances ornamental character with legibility at smaller sizes, featuring extended diacritics, small caps, and multiple numeric styles. Poltawski Nowy supports Latin, Latin Extended, and Vietnamese scripts across four weights and includes italic styles.
Overview
Poltawski Nowy is a digitization of the Antykwa Półtawskiego typeface, originally designed in 1928. The digital version was developed through extensive historical research, including study of original type specimens and punch patterns from the Idźkowski foundry and Monotype archives. It is intended primarily for typesetting text between 10 and 18 points, maintaining the original's ornamental qualities while ensuring readability. The family includes four weights from 400 to 700, each with italic variants, and supports Latin, Latin Extended, and Vietnamese character sets. Additional typographic features include small caps, subscript and superscript, and various numeric styles such as tabular and proportional figures.
