About

Mandali is a sans-serif font family developed primarily for Telugu language news publications, featuring many unique Telugu conjunct letters. It combines a Telugu design by Purushoth Kumar Guttula with a Latin design originally from Nunito by Vernon Adams. The family supports Latin and Telugu scripts and is available in a single normal weight style. Mandali honors Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao, a notable figure in Telugu cultural history.

Overview

Mandali is a Telugu font created for use in news publications, notable for its many unique Telugu conjunct letters. The Telugu portion was designed by Purushoth Kumar Guttula in 2013, while the Latin letters derive from Nunito, designed by Vernon Adams. The project is led by Appaji Ambarisha Darbha, a type designer based in Hyderabad, India. Mandali supports Latin and Telugu scripts and is offered in one normal weight style, making it suitable for clear text settings where Telugu script is required. It is named after Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao, who organized the first World Telugu Conference in 1975 and contributed significantly to the Telugu community.
