About

Maitree is a serif Latin and looped Thai typeface characterized by wide proportions, long serifs in Latin, and larger-than-usual looped terminals in Thai. It offers six weights and features asymmetrically curved terminals, lending an antique and historical feel suitable for diverse uses. Special care was taken in designing Thai vowels and tone marks for optimal readability and legibility.

Overview

Maitree means "friendliness" in Thai and combines Latin and Thai scripts with unique design features such as bigger looped terminals in Thai and long serifs in Latin that balance the overall structure. The typeface includes six weights and is well-suited for both formal and casual applications, especially where an antique or historical tone is desired. Attention to detail in Thai vowel and tone mark positioning enhances readability. Some Thai glyph similarities may require caution in very short texts.
