Gelasio

About

Gelasio is a serif typeface designed with inspiration from early 18th-century French Transitional models, offering a balance of formal structure and friendly, rounded terminals. It supports multiple weights and italics, making it suitable for editorial content, long-form reading, and brand systems that require a heritage feel. Its design harmonizes tradition with modernity through occasional flourishes and refined details.

Overview

Gelasio is an original transitional serif typeface that is metrics compatible with Georgia across Regular, Bold, Italic, and Bold Italic styles. It features a tension between rigorous planning and expressive details, including rounded terminals that lend a contemporary and approachable tone. The family includes four weights with matching italics, supporting extensive language coverage and enhanced glyph sets. Its design is well suited for editorial work, long-form reading, and brand systems that seek a blend of tradition and modernity. Complementary fonts such as IBM Plex Sans can be used to create balanced typographic systems.
