Bricolage Grotesque

About

Bricolage Grotesque is a variable sans-serif typeface designed by Mathieu Triay, featuring seven weights and a range of optical sizes. It draws inspiration from French and British grotesque styles, combining historical references with contemporary trends. The design reflects a hybrid identity, expressing a sense of movement and reconstruction through its distinctive forms and ink traps. It supports Latin, Latin Extended, and Vietnamese scripts.

Overview

Bricolage Grotesque is a variable sans-serif family with weights from 200 to 800 and optical size axes ranging from 12 to 96. It evolved from Mayenne Sans and incorporates cues from Grotesque Nº9 and Antique Olive, balancing anxious and relaxed tones. The font’s design conveys a complex emotional landscape, suitable for expressive display and branding purposes. Its variable nature allows for flexible typographic expression across different sizes and weights.
