About
Blaka enriches the gothic Black Letter style by emphasizing geometric features and integrating Kufic elements in its Arabic letterforms. The design balances sharp-edged Latin characters with thick, overlapping Arabic strokes, creating a contemporary and hand-drawn feel reminiscent of reed pen calligraphy. It includes standard, hollow, and color Ink variants, supporting Latin, Latin-Extended, and Arabic scripts.
Overview
Blaka is a display typeface designed to merge the gothic Black Letter tradition with Arabic Kufic influences. Its Latin letters feature sharp edges, while the Arabic forms use thick strokes and overlaps instead of a baseline, offering a modern interpretation of traditional calligraphy. The family includes two styles—Blaka and Blaka Hollow—and an Ink variant with built-in color, suitable for applications supporting color fonts.
