About

Aref Ruqaa is a serif font family that captures the traditional Ruqaa calligraphic style in its Arabic script. Its Latin letters are adapted from AMS Euler, optimized for regular text rather than mathematical notation. The family includes normal styles in regular and bold weights, supporting Arabic, Latin, and Latin Extended subsets.

Overview

Aref Ruqaa is an Arabic typeface designed to embody the classical Ruqaa calligraphic style, paired with a Latin alphabet based on AMS Euler but spaced for regular text usage. It offers regular and bold weights in a normal style, suitable for multilingual typesetting involving Arabic and Latin scripts. The design project was led by Khaled Hosny, a Cairo-based type designer, with contributions from Abdullah Aref and Hermann Zapf.
